Ellen has two grown sons who also live in Charlottesville. One, an architect, is married to a UVA anaesthesiology resident and has one infant son. The other is a writer, recently relocated back to Charlottesville from New York. Ellen lives in downtown Charlottesville and can often be seen on the Downtown Mall with her ShihTsu/Pom Rosie.
